Tourist Laws Make Morocco Tourism a Success

The 43 year old King Mohammed VI of Morocco is determined to make Morocco the most important tourist destination in the world. His strategy of Vision 2010 now shows the winning signs. From the 4.5 million mark of 2001 the chart went high up to the mark of 6.5 last year. It is a remarkable feat of the King and a gem to his crown. The ambition is to make Morocco the host to 10 million tourists by the year 2010.

It is a dream that should come true, so as to bring 600000 new job opportunities to his people and a GDP of 20%. To achieve this, the tourist laws that thwart inflow of tourists were amended and made flexible. Green flags are waved to coastal resorts like ‘Plan Azur’. And now Plan Azur is destined to bring into fruition the last episodes of Vision 2010.

Plan Azur is a six facility-packed holiday spot. Mediterrania Saïdia, the comfort to Le Jardin de Fleur heralds Plan Azur resorts. The 11 Le Jardin de Fleur resorts, known to be resorts-within-a-resort, with its pompous villas and apartments prove the King’s vision almost attained.

Adam Cornwell, MD of GEM Estates comments that King Mohammed is wise to know that empty lock-up-and-leave resorts will give nothing to build up the State’s economy and will not provide job opportunities to the unemployed millions. Therefore he formulated guidelines that owners can entrust their property to a licensed management company to let them out for a minimum nine year leaseback. To make it feasible he flagged off property developments like Le Jardin de Fleur, the expressive sign of his vision, which collected two CNBC Arabian Property Awards 2007 in last October.
