Fishing ports attract tourists and investors
The fishing ports on Morocco’s Atlantic coast are tipped to attract a large number of international tourists and the rental properties are in line to see greater demand as a result of a year-on-year increase in tourist numbers.
Asilah is a stylish coastal town with an absorbing history and has a wonderful fishing port. It’s a perfect place for a pleasant evening stroll. Tourism is definitely on the increase in Asilah. The annual summer Arts Festival where music, painting and sculpture impregnates the city every August is attended by musicians, painters, poets and writers from all over the world. It has brought a lot of international attention and had very positive effect on tourism.
Asilah’s economy rests on fishing and Tourism. It mainly caters to travelers from Spain, France and UK. The tourists are attracted by Asilah’s Portuguese built fort, many wide avenues, pretty palm-lined boulevard, impressive ramparts and turrets.
Leigh Fergus, of International Living has stated that due to the huge influx of Spanish buyers the area’s real estate prices have soared. Property buyers who want to snap up a cheap residence overseas have been advised to look at the Asilah market as there are a large number of old properties for renovation with prices starting around £50,000. Indeed, house prices are getting inflated as Asilah resembles many a place in Greece, with whitewashed houses, newly painted wooden shutters, orange trees and bougainvillea. The housing standards in Asilah are higher than in Morocco in general.
James Darlington, an estate agent in Tangiers has recently stated that Asilah is just 20 minutes from Tangiers and becoming more and more popular with foreign visitors and investors.
