Bab Al Bahr project is officially launched in Morocco
The construction works of $750 million-residential and tourist complex Bab Al Bahr which will be built on the banks of Rabat’s Bouregrag river was officially launched.
The foundation stone was laid by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco. At the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed and Prince viewed a presentation on the phases of the project and are scheduled for completion in 2012. Sheikh Mohammed is in Rabat for a 3-day official visit to Morocco. He is leading a high-level delegation from Abu Dhabi’s public and private sectors.
Bab Al Bahr (Sea Gate) is a joint venture between the Bouregrag valley development Agency (AAVB) and the Emirati holding Al Ma’abar International. The project stretching across an area of seven million square feet to be built on the estuary of Bouregrag River on the Mediterranean includes residential and commercial buildings, a 5-star hotel, hotel apartments, office buildings, shopping centers, a theatre, a tunnel, a bridge and full amenities and facilities.
The mixed-use reflects the strong historical relations between the UAE and Morocco and the project is expected to further bolster Morocco’s tourism industry. The 7 specialized districts of Bab Al Bahr feature a mixture of Andalusian and local modern architecture of Rabat and Sala cities.
