Ski property brings excellent rental return

Demand for Moroccan ski property has increased as skiers turn to buying Ski property and head for those sun-drenched, snowy peaks. Property investors fancy their own bolt hole near the slopes, which can also bring excellent rental returns all year round, there is a great array of mountainous destinations and property styles to choose in Morocco.

Earlier, it was the inland cities, such as Marrakech and Fez, which demanded most of the attention. However, in recent years, a majority of overseas property, and indeed tourism, interest in Morocco has been centered on the country’s Mediterranean and Atlantic coastal areas.

The ski opportunities in Oukaimeden, Africa’s highest ski resort, 2,600 meters in the Atlas Mountains, with a chairlift rising up 3,258 meters to the peak of Jebel Attar have all the facilities that in a typical European resort and offers skiable heights from the end of December till mid march. Prices are comparatively very cheap, with ski and boot hire prices just £11 a day, and a lift pass costing £7, the Telegraph reports.

Oukaimeden, ski resort, is likely to become an increasingly popular target for property investors. Emaar, The Dubai-based Company is already in the process of constructing a property resort ripe for the ski holiday market in Oukaimeden and it was planned for keen skiers and also act as a four-season resort where people can enjoy activities such as golf and hiking in the summer. Other ski resorts include Mischliffen near Ifrane, on the doorstep of Fès and Meknes. Mount Tidiquin in the Ketama district and Djebel Bou Volane in the Middle Atlas are popular areas for expedition-type skiing and walking trips.

However, property investors don’t have to buy a property in the mountains to take advantage of Morocco’s ski opportunities. Marrakech is located close to Oukaimeden and Mischliffen, so buyers can still look to buy a property in the city and then take advantage of a trip to the ski fields in the morning while spending the afternoon in the city.
