Morocco -popular christmas holiday destination
Morocco is one of the most popular destinations for Brits looking for some winter sun during christmas season according to new research.
A recent study by Ebookers.com revealed that 15 per cent of those choosing to spend the holiday season overseas did so every Christmas. However, According to Lastminute.com, the number of people choosing to spend Christmas overseas this year will be 11 per cent higher than it was 12 months ago.
A large proportion of winter holidaymakers are choosing to visit Morocco this Christmas season according to Jane Folliott of Orion Trek Voyages, who explained that Morocco offers British families sunnier climes and an escape from the dour conditions during the winter season.
She said that the country is improving as a family-friendly destination, due to good transport links and other infrastructure improvements. Furthermore, current exchange rates in Europe are putting many tourists off traveling within the eurozone. Therefore, many are heading further afield and take advantage of more favorable rates in Morocco. Moreover, many were said to own a second-home in Morocco that provided an ideal base for their Christmas festivities.
This comes after the recent reports in The Telegraph which indicated about the growing popularity of Moroccan ski resorts such as Oukaimeden, which is situated about 45 miles south of Marrakesh.
